Maternal Mental Health & Couples Counseling

Are you and your partner struggling with growing your family due to infertility or multiple miscarriages? Are you starting to feel hopeless and frustrated? Are you struggling with being a new parent or with bonding with your baby?

During this vulnerable time, mothers and couples may find themselves struggling with adjustment as they attempt to cope with miscarriage, infertility, postpartum or a new identity of becoming new parents. Wherever you are in your journey, therapy can help to navigate these challenges and provide you with the tools and support you need to work toward your personal and family goals. I will walk along side you and support you and your family with identifying stressors and barriers preventing you from being where you want to be in either your personal life journey or your family life journey.

Child and Family Therapy

Have you noticed new behaviors in your child, seemingly out of nowhere? Is your child struggling with expressing his/her feelings or having healthy social interactions with others? Are you concerned that the relationship or attachment with your baby or child is at risk?

As a Certified FirstPlay® Therapy Practitioner, I use an infant play therapy model to support with bonding and attachment between infant and parent. I also provide therapeutic services to children ages 3-8 that are experiencing stressful life transitions and adjustments. As parents go through life transitions and emotional challenges, children are going through them as well. Children are constantly making meaning of their world and when significant life events such as trauma, grief, adjustment to a new siblings or a new parent, parental divorce, abuse or any other significant transitions occurs their inability to make meaning of it is often shown in their behaviors. Therapy is a safe space were children can “play out” their feelings and where healing can take place. Through play, young children are able to make meaning of their experiences and learn coping skills to develop healthy relationships throughout life.
